Blueberry Milkshakes

Friday evening I tried to make chicken hoagies with miso barbecue sauce.  It was a big fat FAIL.  We didn’t care for the barbecue sauce at all.  I don’t know if I messed it up, or if our palates are just too American for the salty, somewhat strange flavor of miso.  Fortunately, the oven baked fries were still good.  But I was still a little bummed, so after dinner I decided to make these milkshakes.  They turned out amazing!  I found the recipe in Spike’s book “The Good Stuff Cookbook”.   I highly recommend.  And since they contained blueberries, I felt it was a somewhat virtuous dessert!  Hey, perception is reality, right?  Haha!

2 cups blueberries, plus a few extra for garnish
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1 cup whole milk (do not use skim milk)
Sweetened whipped cream, if desired

Combine the 2 cups blueberries, ice cream and milk in a blender. Puree until smooth. Pour into four (8 oz.) glasses. If desired, place a dollop of whipped cream on top of each shake and garnish with a few blueberries. Enjoy!
